Happy Coronacation!!

This is a crazy time in the world no doubt, but hey! Who doesn’t love a little time off of school? Okay okay, calm down. I know that it may be your freshman or sophomore or whatever year in college and you don’t want to take a break from the freedom and the partying, but we are part of history! There is a major pandemic going on and we get to be a part of it! Alright, that sounded better in my head. What I’m trying to say is that at this point there isn’t a lot that we can do, so let’s embrace the time that we have!

If you did not know already, I have a weird thing for positivity. As I have gotten

older, I have learned how to let things not bother me as much. I like to call it my power to not be afraid of the world. I try not to worry about the things that I cannot change, and so far, it is making my life a whole lot better. Obviously, this is easier said than done, but if you can try to work on this, I would totally recommend it!

Okay, enough of my positivity tangent and back to what I’m trying to get at. This is a CORONACATION and we have nooooo idea how long it is going to be, so I plan on keeping y’all updated on how I am filling my time during this break. Hopefully, I can find some fun ways to spend self-quarantine (in case of the worst ahhh) as well.

Keep checking this post for more updates on my crazy (hopefully not Corona-filled) Coronacation :)

UPDATE:

Okay so woah... it's April 8th & I have now been home for almost a month... let me repeat that. ONE MONTH. This is one month that I was supposed to be enjoying my freshman year of college, building new friendships, and suffering through dorm life. But all that aside, let me tell y'all what I have been up to for the past 4 weeks!!

1. Working Out

This has actually been one of my favorite things to do since being home. I always love working out, but especially during this strange time, it has been great to help keep me on a schedule. Every day, I wake up at about 7 am (okay ~most~ days) & workout at home.

That was also a subtle (unsponsored) plug for Gymshark because it is my favorite workout app. I am the type of person who hates cardio, so this is perfect because they have a TON of weighted workouts that make me feel so accomplished & strong which I love.

2. Getting Crafty

Pinterest is the LOML (sorry to my future husband), so of course with all of my extra time,

I have spent way too many hours looking at projects that I don't have the supplies for that I still want to make. I have however found a few things to & the best so far has been embroidering jean shorts & pants!

Right before the safer at home rules were enacted, I did a huge goodwill haul (& then washed everything twice, don't worry). I got a bunch of vintage style jeans & shorts & have been adding designs to them! Hopefully, I will start selling them so people can prep for the spring & summer season. It has been a ton of fun & kept me busy!

3. School... duh

As obvious as it is, I wanted to confirm that I do indeed do my school work as well. I have been working on getting into a routine & figuring out how to stay focused from home while looking at a screen ALL day long.

~one thing that I will recommend is looking into buying a pair of blue light glasses~

I like planning & organizing things, so it has not been too bad for me, but I know that isn't the case for everyone, so be on the lookout for a post about how I am handling online schooling & some helpful tips!!

4. Netflix Party !!

Alright, why has no one ever told me about this before now??? Netflix party may be the best thing ever created. As an out of state student, I really could have used this while I was at school 1000 miles away from some of my best friends but hey, it's here now!

My chicas & I have embraced this fun feature & have been watching tons of shows, movies, & comedy shorts together all from the comfort of our own homes. The way we do it is facetime & watch it at the same time so we can add commentary & still chat as if we were together. Also, snacks are always a must for us. Currently, we are binge-watching "Love is Blind" & we hear that two more seasons are coming out soon, so no one spoil it while we catch up!!

But seriously, this separation has been a little hard for me, & even though it is not perfect, Netflix party has given me a way to still "hang out" with my girl friends. So if you haven't checked it out, I would TOTALLY recommend it!

5. Getting Outside

If you do nothing else. PLEASE GO OUTSIDE. We live in such a beautiful world that has not been getting all of the attention that it deserves! So since there is not a ton else to do, go for a bike

ride, a walk (if your mother has not already taken you on 23 of them), or go explore somewhere that you have never been.

Fun fact- in Wisconsin, all entrance to state parks is FREE right now! My personal favorite is Devil's Lake because there is hiking, areas to relax, & tons of space to throw around a football or kick around a soccer ball.

6. TikTok...

Alright, so I hate to admit this, but yes. I have been learning TikTok dances, spending way too much time watching them, and even making some with my friends from our own homes. It is probably a waste of my time, but idk maybe it will be a skill that I will need in the future. This is at least how I rationalize it to my family (if you wanna check me out: @viashowers).

Side Note- I am actually terrible at TikTok, so if someone would like to teach me, that would be so cool.

HEY! Thanks for checking in with all of my coronacation activities. I will continue to update more & hopefully come up with some fun ideas to pass the extra time. ALSO, be on the lookout for more detailed posts about a lot of my activities & possibly even some videos (oh boy) coming soon!!

xoxo
